IACC Members from Four Continents Participate in NYU Certificate

On the 4th February, in central Manhattan, New York, NYU and IACC celebrated the launch of the Certificate in International Conference Centre Management, with a high profile panel discussion on Trends in International Conference Centre Management. The panel was made up of conference centre experts from IACC’s membership and they shared their views on what makes the conference centre industry unique, latest trends and innovations and industry experts gave an insight as to what it takes to be a successful leader in the industry.

IACC is grateful to the panelists who gave their time to participate in great debate at the launch event, moderated by Mark Cooper, IACC’s CEO:

  • Richard Maxfield – Chief Operating Officer, Dolce Hotels and Resorts
  • Steve Sackman – Regional VP of Sales and Marketing, Destination Hotels
  • Ryan Simonetti, CEO and co-founder, Convene
  • Dave Voght, General Manager of the Benchmark Hospitality’s Edith Macy Conference Center

NYU students, faculty, IACC members and press attended the launch event. Lynn Minneart, Clinical Assistant Professor at NYU comments “The introduction of this specialised certificate in International Conference Centre Management is an indicator of how fast the business events sector is expanding and professionalising on a global level. Conference centres are the beating heart of this sector, and the NYU Tisch Center for Hospitality and Tourism Management is proud to serve the educational needs of industry professionals in this field in collaboration with IACC”.

The first course of the certificate program, led by Ron Naples, Adjunct Associate Professor, Hospitality at NYU, has students participating from four continents around the world; Japan, Australia, the US and Europe.

Mark Cooper, IACC’s CEO comments, “following a 18 month development and design of the certificate program, I am delighted we have now launched the Certificate in International Conference Centre Management. The experts that made up our panel on the 4th February, highlighted the high level of skills required to be employed in the conference centre industry and for this reason, this certificate provides learning specifically focused on conference centre education.”
