Overview

The AGU Conference Center is located in the headquarter office of the American Geophysical Union, an international non-profit scientific association with 60,000 members from 137 countries. The design concept of our recently renovated net zero energy building was conceived in response to our commitment to innovation, education, research, and the climate, by creating a living demonstration of Earth and space science, representing the AGU mission and enduring values, to serve as a community resource and provide inspiration and learning for generations to come. The state-of-the-art Conference Center offers pristine meeting room facilities, equipped with in-demand audio-visual technology, supported with a full range of catering options. All rooms are equipped with either monitors or screens, appropriate in size for the room capacity, connectable to your laptop for presentations.The Conference Center further supports the building’s net zero energy and LEED Platinum certification goals from facility design to operating standards, including: recycling and composting; energy-saver equipment; re-purposed materials in design; compostable service ware; Filtered water; catering vendors rated with a Green Restaurant Association certification; sustainably-sourced coffee products and locally sourced produce

Meeting Facilities

The Conference Center function space occupies two floors, easily accessible by an open staircase or elevators. The Lobby Level consists of three meeting rooms: Luna-Mountain View-Volcano/113 A-B-C, divisible by sky-fold air walls, which can be used separately or in combination. The Lower Level has three conference rooms: Third Rock/LL33 can be configured in multiple arrangements; Blue Marble/LL16 and Clouds/LL17 each have a permanent, built-in, conference table. Both floors have substantial pre-function space that can be used for registration; materials tables; or food & beverage service buffets. **COMING SOON (projected Summer 2020): A Rooftop Terrace with beautiful sunset views, ideal for an evening reception**Standard operating hours are Monday -Friday, 8am-6pm. After hours and weekend events may be negotiated on a case-by-case basis. Meeting Room Fees cover the use of existing furniture inventory, as well as audio visual equipment built into the room. A dedicated audio-visual technician, auxiliary equipment, or any other supplemental services, such as audio recording or video recording, can be coordinated as needed. Catering is arranged through our Conference Center office. A prestige group of caterers have been authorized to provide food & beverage at our facility, meeting the operational & service standards that match the AGU mission. We are able to offer a wide range of menus to meet customers’ needs, whether it be full meals or light refreshments. WiFi is available to all guests, at no charge.

Our experienced, professional Conference Center team offers a one-stop-shop experience to help you create a successful event, coordinating all details from the initial room reservation through every aspect of planning & execution. In addition, our Building Management staff can arrange a tour, if desired, as part of your event agenda, to share key features of our net zero energy design, to encourage broader exposure and interest in sustainability opportunities.
